L'Ospitale delle rifiorenze -
"The Hostel of Re-Flowerings" - is a project of the non governmental organization. Mani Tese Firenze, in collaboration with the municipality of Florenz and with the help of its partners, the Cultural Foundation of the Ethical Bank (Fondazione Culturale Responsabilità Etica), Caritas, the cooperative Riciclaggio e Solidarietà and the Educatorio di Fuligno institute.
During the cold months of the year, the Carmine complex, which has been restored in the occasion of the Jubilee 2000, offers hospitality to the homeless;
but from April to October, it transforms completely: it becomes a centre of national and international volunteering.
And it becomes the centre of a new kind of touris which is not only following a more aware and more respectful path, but which is also in search of the Other Florenz, the real Florenz with its warm solidarity.
The Convent and Church Carmine complex represents, together with Santo Spirito, the most important building outside the second circle of the city's walls, on the other side of the Arno river.
Between Piazza Santo Spirito and Borgo San Frediano: the Carmine complex in which the Ospitale is situated, the hostel is at the center of a historical and popular neighborhood, ten minutes on foot from the Ponte Vecchio and the train station.

Besides the hospitality, the hostel offers also a number of complementary services, among which the following:

Timetable:
Opening hours of service at the Ospitale are the following:
- Open: from 7.00 to 12.30 and from 16.00 to 02.00
- Arrival and registration of guests: 08.00 - 12:30 and 16:00-02.00
- Checkout from rooms: 10.00
The Carmine Complex is formed by three main parts:
The Reception, the Tacca Hall and the ex-library (night zone)
The entrance to the Ospitale is through an internal backyard from Piazza Piattellina n.1. On the first floor, after a flight of stairs, there is the Reception Hall and the Tacca Hall on the right.
The night zone, instead, is a third hall, divided in 20 small rooms, each of which can host up to 4 people (with 2 double decker beds) Not just hospitality...
Please note, if you are not a Member of Ospitale delle Rifiorenze Association you need to pay at arrival a 4 Euro fee for the annual subscription.

These itineraries offer the possibility to get to know not only the beautiful and antique face of Florenz, but also the face of the modern city. Florenz, as Buontalenti discribed it, is the city of the "good eye" and the "bad tongue": it is worthwhile to discover it slowly and respectfully, following different paths than the traditionally mass tourist ones.
